The stellar populations of quiescent ultra-diffuse galaxies from optical to mid-infrared spectral energy distribution fitting

چکیده
We use spectral energy distribution (SED) fitting to place constraints on the stellar population properties of 29 quiescent ultra-diffuse galaxies (UDGs) across different environments. fully Bayesian routine PROSPECTOR coupled with archival data in optical, near, and mid-infrared from Spitzer WISE under assumption an exponentially declining star formation history. recover mass, age, metallicity, dust content, time scales photometric redshifts (photo-zs) UDGs studied. Using data, we probe existence UDGs. Although its presence cannot be confirmed, find that inclusion small amounts models brings populations closer those reported spectroscopy. Additionally, fit all galaxies. a high accuracy recovering photo-zs compared spectroscopy, allowing us provide new photo-z estimates for three field unknown distances. evidence dependence environment, being systematically younger than their cluster counterparts. Stellar Populations in the Central Galaxies of Fossil Groups
It is inferred from the symmetrical and luminous X-ray emission of fossil groups that they are mature, relaxed galaxy systems. Cosmological simulations and observations focusing on their dark halo and inter-galactic medium properties confirm their early formation. Recent photometric observations suggest that, unlike the majority of non-fossil brightest group galaxies (BGGs), the central early-t...
متن کاملMid - to - Far Infrared Spectral Energy Distribution of Galaxies in Spitzer First Look Survey Field ∗
We made model fitting to the mid-to-far infrared spectral energy distributions (SEDs) for different categories of galaxies in the main extragalactic field of the Spitzer First Look Survey with the aid of spectroscopic information from the Sloan Digital Sky Survey. We find that the mid-to-far infrared SEDs of HII galaxies, mixture type galaxies and LINERs can be well fitted by the one-parameter ...

Early Type Galaxies in the Mid Infrared : a new flavor to their stellar populations †
The mid infrared emission of early type galaxies traces the presence of intermediate age stellar populations as well as even tiny amounts of ongoing star formation. Here we discuss high S/N Spitzer IRS spectra of a sample of Virgo early type galaxies, with particular reference to NGC 4435. We show that, by combining mid infrared spectroscopic observations with existing broad band fluxes, it is ...
متن کاملThe Infrared Spectral Energy Distribution of Normal Star-Forming Galaxies
We present a new phenomenological model for the spectral energy distribution of normal star-forming galaxies between 3 and 1100 μm. A sequence of realistic galaxy spectra are constructed from a family of dust emission curves assuming a power law distribution of dust mass over a wide range of interstellar radiation fields. For each interstellar radiation field heating intensity we combine emissi...
